A scheduled auto top-up is not a completed payment. When your balance drops below the threshold, the recharge is queued and then attempted against your saved card in the background. If the processor or your bank refuses that background charge, there is often no error on screen: the status simply stays at scheduled, nothing is charged, and no credits arrive. People describe it as "it just says it will be scheduled". If more than an hour has passed and your card statement shows no charge, treat it as a silent decline rather than a delay.
Background charges are more exposed to declines than a purchase you make yourself, because you are not there to complete a bank verification step, and a charge that fires on its own can look unusual to a risk filter. Letting it keep trying can also add up to a string of failed attempts on the same card, which makes the next attempt less likely to pass.
The practical fix is to turn auto top-up off, then make one manual one-time purchase while you are present to approve any bank prompt. If that is declined too, stop, ask your bank whether it saw the attempt, and wait about a day before trying once more. If you need credits now, a crypto payment avoids the card path entirely: ROZO Checkout pays an OpenRouter payment link with BTC Lightning, USDC, USDT and more for a 1% fee, shown before you pay. ROZO is independent and not affiliated with OpenRouter or Coinbase.
